Pondering?
This blog post doesn't have a spell check.... i had to spell pondering three times. We take Windows for granted , don't we? let this thought be one of my ponderings.
1. what would it be like to live in a world not driven by greed?
2. what if the insanity of materialism did not exist?
3. what does it mean to progress? People have always idolized progress. But what does it mean? more sustainability or more exploitation, being the cleverest or having the best there is to have? i just dont know anymore.
when i think about progress, i mostly see it in terms of looking in the rear view mirror, so retrospectively. Looking at an aspect of human life before something existed and then the progress brought about by its being.
Take for instance the aeroplane. Before its existence, long distances took a long time to cover. It was a commitment and sacrifice to move 10000kms from one's home; today the decision is only monetary,"do i have enough money to pay the airfare or not.".
This is labelled progress... being able to move long distances quickly. The effects of this so called progress are profound. National identity or loyalty to one's place and land quickly become secondary or of no concern at all. In fact all it has done is progress us more quickly to an untimely death and give us no concern for the places we pass at 33000 feet above sea level.
There is no feeling in the journey except maybe the impatience of wanting to be at one's destination already or the fear of the hunk of junk falling out of the sky.
Can i progress to not wanting to get there quickly, enjoying the journey and being patient as i movely slowly through my life, progressing to it's end?
